I haven't been back to this forum for a long long time so I thought I'd stop in to see if there have been any updates. But still nothing? Is SP officially dead?

More MIA, hopefully.
I, finally, have a new pastor and he wants WEB, DVD and other multi-media.
I guess, how do you say Media Shout?
I will be calling the GRS number this afternoon to try to talk to someone. If I could get a functioning Cloud, could give SP a ride for a while longer.
I have a nice library of SP music and other stuff and really don't have the time or inclination to make the changes required to the new program.

If David Burton is ready to switch for sure SP is definitely on life support and the doctor is on his way into the room _________________ ROLL TIDE

Hey David, if you get any response from anyone at GRS, would you post that you got an acknowledgement?
BTW I found a macro that will convert your ptf file into a format that can be imported into MS. Took about 5 minutes to convert 220 files into MS. _________________ Frank Wynne

How well did it keep the formatting? I tried one and it was a mess.
If I get a response, I'll post it.

Yep, I'd rather keep S+ and FP or Cloud than have to redo software that we don't have the money for, not to mention the learning curve for everyone that uses it. _________________ Mike Davis

When you become an old dude, that becomes very important.

It did ok...not perfect but workable. I'll post a link to it on our Facebook group. _________________ Frank Wynne

I just heard a major staff member here at our church wants to dump Sunday Plus. He's young and adaptable, but I think it's just too unfamiliar for him. I want to query him as to what his expectations are.
On another note mentioned, looking at FP and Cloud, to me the learning curve may not be as steep as other products, but definitely a challenge for some of our people. We're slowly moving ahead with a team to evaluate other products. _________________ The SoundTech

Part of the deal is learning curve and what you are used to. The new pastor changes sermons on the fly sometimes, from what I have been told. He did say that sometimes it is not until Saturday night that he determines which of several sermons that he will use.
As I told someone who was telling me to be prepared for the new pastor, I have done the sermon outline during the sermon more than once. At least at this time, I would not be comfortable doing that with something else. But that is from my years of experience with SP, and learning to type with something other than the 'Columbus method'. (Going out and discovering the key.)
I can see using 2 different programs to accomplish what is being asked of us. My preference would be Cloud and/or SP 3. But that does not seem to be in the cards. I did find that MS and SP did play nice together, but that is a lot of $ to spend for a couple of additional capabilities.

If you used Easy Worship or Media Shout or Song Show Plus there would be no need for a second proogram. Any of those 3 and many others already do what SP does and more. Yes there is a learning curve but there was a learning curve when I first used Powerpoint, then Zionworx, then Prologue whatever Sunday plus was then and then Media Shout, but the time it took to learn each program was worth it because it made our worship services better and that is what this is all about. If you are happy with your services the way they are and you are not jumping through 110 hoops to do all that your church asks then you shoould probably never upgrade because SP is a good program for what it does. If like David you have a pastor that is going to stretch out way beyond the limits that SP has then you like so many others probably need to move on. _________________ ROLL TIDE |

Here's what I sent John:
Hey John,
We're all beginning to feel a little like Custer. Is there any real news you can tell us one way or the other? I know things can't be going good for you with the period of time that has passed. But let us know if we can still hold on to some hope or need to move on.
Here's the reply:
I understand how you feel; I'm scrambling now to try and get the rest of the pieces together to test, so we can get this thing shipped. As you can probably appreciate, it's not just the application, it's the web pages where you can buy it, manage it, update it, etc. All have to work together, and they nearly do... if you can hang in for a couple more weeks, we should have an update.
So don't give up yet. _________________ Mike Davis

Thanks for the info, I just hope that he can pull it off since it appears that GRS=John

This is good news, but I have to agree with David, can SP survive and provide the support necessary for a major application release for all potential customers? If enough orders are received, can another employee be hired? _________________ The SoundTech
